On Tuesday afternoon, a Cessna aircraft departed from Laoag City but didn’t reach Tuguegarao Airport, and it was reported missing. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Office of the Civil Defense were informed about the situation.
The Cessna 152 plane with the call sign RPC-8598 was scheduled to land at Tuguegarao airport at 12:30 p.m., but authorities suspect it might have made an emergency landing or crashed in the vicinity of Apayao, Abra, or Kalinga provinces.
The aviation authorities in Cauayan, Vigan, and Lallo collaborated with Tuguegarao FSS in searching for the plane, but they didn’t receive any information about its location.
A Facebook post by the Cagayan Public Information Office mentioned that the last known location of the plane was 32 nautical miles from Alcala, Cagayan.
Despite conducting a search in the afternoon, the rescue helicopter had to stop due to unfavorable weather conditions.
The search and rescue operations will continue on the following day, Wednesday, according to the agency.
