Who is QUIBOLOY?

Apollo Quiboloy, also known as Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, is a Filipino religious leader and the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, Inc. (KJC). Born on April 25, 1950, in Davao City, Philippines, Quiboloy established his religious organization in 1985.

Quiboloy claims to be the “Appointed Son of God” and teaches a unique theology that centers around his divine mission and authority. He preaches a message of salvation and promises spiritual transformation through allegiance to his leadership and adherence to his teachings.

What accusations is Quiboloy dealing with?

Quiboloy and two other church administrators were accused in a superseding federal indictment in the Central District of California that was unsealed in November 2021 of conspiring in a sex trafficking operation between 2002 and 2018, recruiting girls and women between the ages of 12 and 25 to work as the pastor’s personal assistants, or “pastorals.”

According to court documents, Quiboloy and the other church administrators forced these pastorals to have sex with him by threatening to subject them to “physical and verbal abuse and eternal damnation.”

Quiboloy was charged with conspiracy to commit force, fraud, and coercion-based child sex trafficking, force, fraud, and coercion-based child sex trafficking, conspiracy, and bulk cash smuggling.

On November 10, 2021, a federal warrant was issued by the FBI for Quiboloy’s arrest. In February 2022, the FBI published posters of Quiboloy together with his two church lieutenants. In response, Quiboloy’s team stated that the pastor and leaders of KOJC had been “maliciously accused in this present controversy.”

P10M Illegal Donations

Lawyer of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) head Quiboloy said that the P10-million reward being offered by Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos violates

Republic Act 6713 after the official said that the bounty for the immediate arrest came from donations.

“The P10-million reward may constitute a violation of RA 6713 because if you will read Section 7, paragraph D states that public officials or employees shall not solicit or accept directly or indirectly any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their official duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by or any transaction which may be affected by the functions of their office,” KOJC legal counsel Israelito Torreon said at a press conference Tuesday night.

Abalos on Monday announced the P10-million reward for information that would lead to Quiboloy’s arrest and P1 million each for information on his five co-accused.

This (RA 6713) is applicable to Secretary Abalos. You may be motivated in good faith in whatever you are doing but that is a violation of the law because any donation or any prize is governed by particular (law),Torreon said.

Torreon added that aside from RA 6713, Memorandum Circular No. 2019-063 provides that monetary rewards can only be offered to most wanted persons.

Quiboloy:Wanted

Quiboloy is accused of breaking the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, Republic Act No. 7610. There are distinct qualified trafficking allegations against him and his subordinates; these counts are not subject to bail.

Duterte revealed to reporters in Tacloban City on June 30 that he knew the pastor’s whereabouts, “but it’s a secret.”

According to the PNP chief, “harboring or concealing, or facilitating the escape of, any person he knows, or has reasonable ground to believe or suspect, has committed any offense under existing penal laws in order to prevent his arrest, prosecution, and conviction,” is punishable by law under Presidential Decree No. 1829.

Quiboloy is a close friend of Duterte’s family and the former president’s spiritual advisor.

All efforts to locate Quiboloy have proven fruitless.
